Wires are generally made up of materials that are electrically conductive, while also exhibiting ductile or malleable properties. Ductility and malleability is an integral characteristic of Kanthal Mesh Strips . These properties enable the manufacturer to beat or draw them into shapes like wires and sheets. In addition to ductility, a Kanthal Resistance Wire needs to be able to deliver a good performance in several environments, especially in applications that call for elevated temperatures. The electric resistance of the alloy is intermediate. One of the main purposes of the Kanthal A1 Resistance Wire is its use in heating elements, where electrical currents are converted to heat. As a resistance wire, it is expected that the Kanthal Wire exhibits a high level of stability when it is hot, in the presence of oxygen or air. Because the chemical composition of the alloy contains aluminum, it forms a protective aluminum oxide, which means the thermal conductivity of the Kanthal Wire and Strip is high. However, it is to be noted that the newly formed aluminum oxide is an electrical insulator, which is why they use of special processes is a must in order to generate better electrical connections. Apart from its thermal and electrical properties, the Kanthal Heating Strip exhibits good tensile strength and is very durable. Very often their economical costs make the Kanthal A1 Strip a commercially viable component for several applications.
