In addition to catering to general applications, specification ASTM B301 is intended for screw machine work to be performed at a higher speed. This specification details several aspects of the ASTM B301 C14500 Tellurium Copper Bar. These details include their chemical composition as well as mechanical properties like tensile strength and elongation. The chemistry of this alloy is mostly made up of copper, which is why many of the properties of pure, unalloyed copper will overlap with the C14500 Tellurium Copper Bright Bar. While the electrical resistance of the pure copper is high, the addition of tellurium in its alloy pushes it up a notch higher. Hence, the 0.40% - 0.70% tellurium added in the alloy makes it suitable for several electrical applications. Along with obtaining a higher electrical conductivity, the Copper Tellurium Alloy Hex Bar also exhibits higher machinability. Regarded as a free machining copper alloy grade, the machinability of this alloy is much more efficient and faster than unalloyed copper. According to specification ASTM B301, the alloy may also be tempered to improve its strength. A common temper designation given to this material is H04. So if the alloy is tempered using H04, the Tellurium Copper Rod will have a hard temper. The corrosion resistance of this alloy is like pure copper as well. It has good bacteriostatic properties and the anti-microbial properties of the C14500 Copper Round Bar with resistance to marine water keeps away lichen, moss, etc.
