Nickel Cobalt Beryllium Copper Alloys

UNS C17510 Alloy 360

Nickel Beryllium Copper
With a nickel content that ranges between 1.4% to 2.2%, C17510 is a Beryllium Copper alloy. The content of beryllium lies between 02.% to 0.6%, acting as one of the secondary alloyants in the chemical composition for C17510 Beryllium Copper . The main benefit of using this material is its excellent electrical and thermal conductivity. Though copper as a lone metal offers electrical and thermal conductivity benefits, the inclusion of a small amount of beryllium will improve these properties to a large extent. Since the content of nickel is added to the alloy, the electrical conductivity would reduce to some degree. Similar to most Nickel Cobalt Beryllium Copper Alloys , grade C17510 is a metal that exhibits good strength and hardness characteristics. These properties coupled with the fact that the conductivity of the Nickel Beryllium Alloy 360 is about 45% - 60% that of copper make it useful in applications such as electrical systems, heavy duty controls, and fire protection sprinkler systems. Furthermore, because the material is quite durable and can withstand elevated temperatures, the Nickel Beryllium Copper may also be used in the construction of high pressure high temperature connectors. In order to further make improvements in its hardness and strength properties, the manufacturer may choose to use different tempers on the Copper Cobalt Alloy .
