Aluminum alloys that contain bronze in their chemical composition tend to be available in either wrought or cast form. With a copper content of about 83%, the Aluminium Bronze Rod is suited to be used in marine applications. Copper generally has excellent resistance to marine water which has a salinity level of about 3.5%. Unlike some steel alloys that could easily be corroded by such high levels of sodium chloride, the nickel aluminum bronze round bar works well in such environments. Similar to the occurrence of a patina on copper, these alloys have a tendency to develop a protective aluminum film. The alumna film that is developed is hard just as it is adherent to the surface of the Nickel Aluminium Bronze Round Bar forming a protective barrier. In fact, the strength of the alumna level formed on the alloy is much higher in comparison to either brass alloys or tin bronze alloys. The corrosion resistance properties, like most copper containing alloys, for the UNS C61400 Aluminium Bronze Filler Rod is high. Pure, unalloyed copper is naturally tinted (pink-orange), but with the dilution of the metal or in other words alloying there is a change in its color. The inclusion of aluminum, which is very bright silver in the alloy of the 954 Aluminum Bronze Round Bar changes the tint to golden.
