ASTM specified alloy components are required to undergo certain tests in order to maintain a homogenous uniformity in the stock and so that they conform to their mechanical properties. Under specification ASTM B194, the Beryllium Copper Plate is required to undergo tensile and bend tests. These tests are used to evaluate their conformance to several properties including the tensile and yield strength. In addition to their mechanical strength properties, the test performed on the Beryllium Copper Foil will also conform to the values of properties like elongation and Rockwell hardness requirements. The processing of the Beryllium Copper Alloy 172 Shim Sheet may be done in any of the four conditions. One condition is to give the alloy a solution heat treatment. The other condition is the first solution heat treating the ASTM B194 Beryllium Sheet following which it would be cold worked. The third condition is by the use of precipitation heat treatment on the copper beryllium alloy plate. And lastly, the use of mill hardening to process the alloy. Apart from exhibiting good resistance to corrosion, the important aspect of the alloy is its electrical conductivity. Amongst all the copper alloys available in the market, the C17200 Beryllium Copper Sheet offers the highest electrical conductivity. Keeping in line with the properties of copper, the C17510 Beryllium Copper Strip is an alloy that also exhibits high thermal conductivity.
