DIN 1.2083 is a standard for tool steels that contain chromium as one of the primary alloyants in their chemical composition. Kown as plastic mold steel, the equivalent of DIN 1.2083 Plate is the AISI 420. Since it is heat treatable, this material is supplied in an annealed condition by suppliers. The hardness of the alloy is greater than 230 HB. Because of its high hardness, the industries dealing with chemically aggressive plastics make use of the DIN 1.2083 Plastic Mold Steel Round Bar as either inserts or plates.
