Most alloys are heat treated to yield better results. One such alloy is grade EN 42, which has undergone a precipitation hardening process. In this process, a malleable material will be put through a heat treatment which results in a higher yield strength for EN 42 Carbon Steel Round Bar . Usually, this material is ductile and soft when supplied in a solution annealed condition. In order to improve its yield strength and hardness, manufacturers use precipitation hardening or age the EN 42 Hex Bar . Ordinarily, some alloys require multiple hardening processes to reach the desired levels of strength. However, in the case of the Carbon Steel EN 42 Spring Steel Black Bar , the use of a single treatment gives it maximum yield strength. Even though the tensile strength of this material is rated as moderate, the EN 42 Spring Steel Round Bar  is suited to engineering operations. This is because the material exhibits many other properties aside from good mechanical strength. For instance, despite being carbon steel, the addition of manganese and silicon to the alloy of EN 42 Spring Steel Rods  improves its resistance to corrosion. Like most carbon steels, the content of carbon is higher in the EN 42 Bright Bars  and averages about 0.70% of the total weight of the alloy. In addition to undergoing precipitation hardening, it is possible to improve the mechanical strength properties of the alloy by tempering the EN42 Round Bars.
